Is it organic or wildcrafted?

When it comes to essential oils, organic matters.  If your oil comes from a farm, you might want to reconsider.  Think of it like this, all the chemicals, fertilizers, pesticides, herbicides, fumigation and genetic alterations are concentrated in the oil and are 100 times more concentrated that the original plant. If you are working to a healthier lifestyle, concentrated chemicals are not the way to go.  Separation of the chemicals in distillation simply doesn't occur.

Wildcrafted plants are grown alone in nature.  No human help at all.  These are harvested from the wild habitat and are harvested in the wild.  This is a pure form of the plant giving you a high quality, premium oil in distillation.

Okay, here goes the science lesson of the day.  To evaluate the value or richness of a product, chromatography testing is used.  In essence, the chemist passes a mixture dissolved in the mobile phase through a stationary phase, separating what is being analyzed from the other molecules.  This way, the actual molecules are being isolated and measured.  Gas chromatography is used for substances that will not decompose at high temperature.  The process is simple.  An oil sample is put in the heating chamber of the gas chromatograph machine, and heated until it evaporates.  As the oil vaporizes, it is measure for  the amount of time and the concentration of the molecule. Premium  medicinal grade oils have these test results on hand.  As a consumer you have access to see these charts to know you are receiving a premium product.  And if you are unsure, simply request to see a copy of the chromatography testing.

If you can confidently answer that you know where your oils come from, who has recommended them, and how they have scored on the chromatography testing, you have a premium, certified organic oil.

Homemade Antibacterial Wipes Recipe

Disposable cleaning wipes are convenient, but are laden with harsh chemicals that can be harmful to pets and children. You can make your own anti-bacterial cleaning wipes that not only work better than commercial brands, but are also safe for your pets and children. You can get your kids involved in making the wipes and then put them to work to wipe down your doorknobs, light switches and even the toilets.

Here is what you will need:

• Empty cleaning wipe container cleaned and dried
• 2 cups warm water
• 1 paper towel roll - Bounty brand recommended for durability
• 5 drops lemon essential oil
• 5 drops lemongrass essential oil
• 5 drops tea tree essential oil

Use a serrated knife to cut the paper towel roll in half to make a shorter roll so it is the height of your wipe container. Mix the water and essential oils together in a glass jar and shake it. Stuff the paper towel roll tightly into the container and pour liquid over papertowels. Once wet, the cardboard roll pulls easily out of the middle of the paper towels. Remove one paper towel out of the middle of the roll at a time for cleaning. You can get this recipe and others for free with the Cleaning Pack of essential oils.

Safely Heal Sunburns

Summer season is here and although the Vitamin D the sun provides is good for your health, sunburns can be painful and dangerous. The best preventative measure for sunburns is to wear a wide brimmed hat, wear loose, light clothing to cover your skin and avoid being outside mid-day when the sun is at its hottest. If you must be outside, choose a natural sunblock since most commercial brands are full of harsh chemicals that can actually do more harm than good.
