- Does the label state that the oil is Certified Organic or Certified Wildcrafted? Organic plants have been grown on unpolluted land without the use of chemical fertilizers, pesticides, herbicides, fumigation or genetic alteration. Wildcrafted plants have grown without human intervention and are harvested from their natural or "wild" habitat. One drop of essential oil is 100 times more concentrated than the plant it came from. Essential oils from non-organic plants contain chemicals and pesticides that are also 100 times more concentrated. The chemicals and natural plant oils cannot be separated during the distilling processes. If the label does not state that it is certified organic or wildcrafted, than it does have chemicals and pesticides in it.

With the popularity of essential oils growing, so are the number of companies distributing them. However, not all essential oils are created equal.
