We are in the thick of summer in our part of the world. The summer season sends us outdoors which is great for physical activity and getting fresh air. But the exposure we get can also require treatment. We want to teach you how to replace some of your over-the-counter options (which are filled with toxins and chemicals) to medicines provided by nature.
Of course your first line of defense is prevention and protection. Wear sunblock and limit your exposure to the sun. Wear appropriate clothing so you don't overheat or get eaten alive by insects. Stay hydrated and get enough rest so that your body can keep up with your summer plans. Here are some essential oils you will want on hand for summer:
- Insect Bites - Our natural solution Bug Repel, prevents the bugs from biting in the first place. Insects do not like the smell of essential oils, creating a safe and natural repellant. Rosemary essential oil is analgesic, antiviral, antiseptic and stimulates the immune system. Peppermint essential oil is very high in menthol, which is one of the best natural chemicals for relieving pain. These oils used together will stop itching and pain and reduce redness and swelling from insect bites. Patchouli oil neutralizes the toxin from poisonous insect bites to clean and heal the bite.
- Sunburns - Even with preventative measures in place, someone in the family is likely to get a sunburn. The mixture of oils in our After Sun Serum is safe and gentle to heal the sunburn quickly and restore the skin. Ready for use right out of the bottle, these oils relieve pain, reduce inflammation, and moisturize and repair the skin to reduce peeling. This oil blend is safe for the use on children, but not recommended for use on their faces.
- Allergies - Finding relief from allergy symptoms and curing the reaction with natural essential oils is the safest and most effective way to do so. Our new blend Allergy Relief will be available soon and is formulated specifically for seasonal allergies. We also have several single oils that will provide relief from allergy symptoms.
